"Just the News is not well-known beyond the Maga world, but it does have gravitas there, largely because of its founder, who gives commentary on Maga platforms like the program hosted by Steve Bannon and has even spoken with Donald Trump," said an anthropology expert, who has extensively researched the Trumpist political wave.

A Controversial Partner

Truss's attempt to import American conservative media to Britain has pushed her closer to divisive personalities such as the journalist.

He established Just the News following backlash after he was accused of promoting false stories about Joe Biden's anticorruption effort in the Ukraine, as well as controversial stories about one-time diplomat to the region.

These allegations were echoed within the pro-Trump outlets, with Solomon serving as a common interviewee on the prominent Fox News show. The former president personally boosted Solomon's reporting.

"Online platforms is borderless," he said. "There is a certain atmosphere within which stuff flows – on occasion manifesting in radical ways and occasionally in softer tones – but which is networked."

Hinton said the expansion of the online right in the UK in recent times meant the "chance to have a larger effect is significant."
